Q. What is a page view?

A. page view is the number of times a particular page within the website has been downloaded by anyone at any time.

Q. What is a visit?

A. visit covers a series of actions by 1 user. So for example, if I visited a website and looked at 3 different pages, and then the first page again, that would be 4 page views, but only 1 visit. So, if a particular page (like the home page) has been visited 100 times but viewed 900 times, then that means that on average each visitor has downloaded the home page 9 times.

Q. What is a hit?

A. hit is recorded whenever any object is downloaded. So for example if 1 person visits 2 pages in a website, and each page has 2 pictures on it, that's 1 visit, 2 page views and 6 hits (1 for each picture (4 total) and 1 for each page).
